When is the Nepal share market open?
NEPSE trades Monday to Friday, 11:00 to 15:00 Nepal time, since the week changed on 6 April 2026 (it was Sunday to Thursday before). It closes on national public holidays and on Kathmandu Valley holidays such as Indra Jatra, since the exchange is in Kathmandu. Holidays for one group only, such as Teej for women, have been trading days.
How holidays affect T+2 settlement
Shares you buy reach your demat account two trading days later (T+2), and only then can you sell them. Holidays are not trading days, so a holiday in between pushes settlement back. Shares bought on Friday 6 November 2026, the last session before Tihar, settle on Monday 16 November, not Tuesday 10 November.
Dates marked expected come from the government's published holiday list; the exchange confirms each closure in a notice shortly before. Holidays set by the moon, such as the Eids, are added when their dates are announced.
